Veteran Egyptian Actor Lotfy Labib Dies at 77
Cairo – Renowned Egyptian actor Lotfy Labib passed away on Wednesday at the age of 77, following a prolonged battle with illness, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Actors Syndicate.
In recent days, Labib’s health had reportedly deteriorated significantly. Dr. Ashraf Zaki, head of the syndicate, confirmed that the actor was transferred to the intensive care unit after a marked decline in his response to treatment, noting that his condition had become critical.
In an official statement, the syndicate expressed its condolences to Labib’s family and fans, paying tribute to his long-standing contributions to Egyptian and Arab cinema, theater, and television.
Fans and members of the artistic community had closely followed updates on Labib’s health, particularly after it began to worsen in recent weeks. His condition required hospitalization and intensive medical supervision.

A family source had previously stated that Labib’s health necessitated continuous monitoring. The actor was discharged from the hospital on June 17, following slight improvement, with doctors recommending a recovery period at home.
