West Bank Settlers Lead Special List for 2024

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that 2024 has witnessed the highest number of incidents involving settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since the office began keeping records two decades ago.

In its daily report, the office stated that approximately 1,400 incidents resulted in Palestinian casualties, property damage, or both.

It further noted that among the 4,700 individuals displaced throughout the West Bank last year, 12% cited settler violence and access restrictions as primary reasons that forced them to leave their homes or communities.

The report added that 2024 saw the second-highest number of Palestinian fatalities in the West Bank since OCHA started its records, following 2023, which was the deadliest year. The office highlighted that over 480 Palestinians were killed, including 91 children, across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, with most of the casualties caused by Israeli forces.

The OCHA also pointed out that Israeli operations in 2023 and 2024 in the West Bank included airstrikes and other military tactics that appeared to exceed standard law enforcement methods, according to the statement.
