American Actor Jonathan Joss (59) Shot Dead
American actor Jonathan Joss, known for his roles in the animated series “King of the Hill” and the comedy show “Parks and Recreation,” has died after being shot in San Antonio on Sunday evening, at the age of 59.
Police reported that Joss was found injured near the road on Dorsey Street. Paramedics attempted to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicated that the suspect, identified as Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja (56), was arrested and charged with murder. His bail was set at $200,000.
Highlights of Jonathan Joss’s Career
Born in December 1965, Joss gained fame for voicing the character John Redcorn, Hank Hill’s neighbor, in the hit series “King of the Hill,” which aired from 1997 to 2009. He also lent his voice to the show’s video game released in 2000.
In April, Joss expressed disappointment at not being invited to a special revival event for the series, despite having already recorded his voice for the upcoming season, which is set to premiere on Hulu this August.
Audiences also recognized him as Ken Hotate, chief of the Wamapoke tribe, in the series “Parks and Recreation,” in addition to his roles in “Ray Donovan,” “Tulsa King,” and “ER,” as well as the films “True Grit” and “The Magnificent Seven.”
A Life Full of Challenges
In January, Joss lost his home and three of his dogs in a tragic fire. He wrote on Facebook, “I’ve been rebuilding my life piece by piece… You, the audience, were the ones who lifted me up and supported me through the darkest days of my life.”
Jonathan Joss married Tristan Kern de Gonzalez on Valentine’s Day this year. In his last post, he shared his joy at meeting fans in Austin, Texas, and asked for a ride to San Antonio — where the tragic incident occurred just hours later.
