Jonathan Joss: A Voice That Defined a Generation
Born in December 1965, Jonathan Joss gained fame as the voice of John Redcorn, Hank Hill’s Native American neighbor in King of the Hill. He voiced the character from 1997 until 2009, and even returned for the video game adaptation in 2000.
Though he wasn’t invited to a recent promotional event for the show’s revival, Joss had already recorded lines for the upcoming Season 14, which will premiere this August on Hulu.
He also portrayed Chief Ken Hotate, a humorous Native American elder, in Parks and Recreation, and made appearances in shows like Tulsa King, Ray Donovan, ER, and Charmed.
A Life of Passion and Resilience
Earlier this year, Joss faced a personal tragedy when he lost his home and three dogs in a fire. In a heartfelt Facebook post from April, he reflected on rebuilding his life:
“Piece by piece, soul by soul. Your love lifted me in my darkest days.”
He married his partner, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, on Valentine’s Day this year. Just hours before his death, he expressed joy after a fan meet-and-greet in Austin, writing: “Huge thanks to everyone who came out and showed us love!”
