Hormuz: Burning Oil Tanker and Conflicting Accounts
Tensions escalated in the Strait of Hormuz after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the oil tanker Algaya was hit by an explosion after striking a mine while attempting to cross an area it described as restricted south of the strait. The IRGC said efforts to bring the fire under control had failed.
U.S. Central Command rejected the Iranian account, saying the claim that the tanker had struck a naval mine was false. It accused Iran of targeting the vessel again with a drone while it was anchored off the coast of Oman.

Houthis and Saudi Arabia: Escalation Widens
U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Washington was concerned about the Houthis’ seizure of Perim Island in the Red Sea and was closely monitoring the situation as fighting continued along Yemen’s coast.
In Saudi Arabia, security alerts were issued in several cities and regions, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Taif, Jeddah, Yanbu, Jazan and AlUla. Authorities later announced that the danger had passed.
A spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition said the Houthis used ballistic missiles and drones in attacks on targets inside the kingdom, injuring 13 civilians. The spokesperson said the coalition would take measures to deter further attacks.

Profile News correspondents in southern Lebanon reported a series of Israeli airstrikes, artillery shelling and explosions across several areas, including Mansouri, Wadi al-Salouqi, Kfar Tebnit, the vicinity of Nabatieh, Hanin, Wadi Zibqin and Qantara, as well as other locations in southern Lebanon.
Profile News correspondents also reported that a resident of Baraachit died from injuries sustained when Israeli forces opened machine-gun fire toward the town during a sweep operation.
Amid the developments on the ground, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would continue what he described as the destruction of “terrorist infrastructure” in the security zone in Lebanon and would continue eliminating what he described as threats to Israel.

Russia and Ukraine: Trump Says Energy Strikes Could Halt
Trump said Ukraine had agreed not to strike Russian energy targets and that Russia had agreed to do the same. He also said the global rise in diesel prices was largely due to the war between Russia and Ukraine rather than Iran.

Gaza: Strikes Hit Khan Younis and Gaza City
Palestinian medical sources reported that one person was killed and others were wounded in an Israeli drone strike on a tent sheltering displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. Medical sources later reported that one person was killed and others were wounded in a strike on a vehicle in the Al-Saftawi area of northern Gaza City.
Sudan: 20 Million People Face Acute Hunger
The World Food Programme said about 20 million people in Sudan are facing acute hunger, while about 14 million have been displaced by the conflict.
The agency said about five million people face emergency levels of food insecurity, while nearly 200,000 are experiencing catastrophic levels reaching famine conditions. It said funding for its operations in Sudan had fallen by half this year.
The WFP also warned that the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandab and escalating tensions in the Black Sea pose threats to global food security.
Iraq: Sudani Calls for Weapons to Be Under State Control
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said Baghdad would not allow Iraqi territory to become a base for threatening neighboring countries or an arena for settling scores. He said placing weapons under state control was a fundamental requirement for building a unified and stable state.
