Diplomatic Escalation Between Moscow and London, the Latter Takes Reciprocal Measures

The British Foreign Office announced that it has summoned the Russian ambassador in London following Russia’s expulsion of one of its diplomats and his wife. The Foreign Office described the action as a new escalation and called the accusations baseless and fabricated. It pointed out that Russia aims to close the British embassy in Moscow without considering the serious escalatory impact of such a move. The ministry affirmed that it would not accept the intimidation of its embassy staff in Moscow and their families and decided to revoke the accreditation of a Russian diplomat and his wife in response to the Russian decision. The British Foreign Secretary announced that immediate actions would be taken in response to the Russian targeting of their diplomats and their families.

Additionally, the ministry stated that it would not tolerate Moscow’s repeated threats that target the kingdom’s security.
