Israeli Airstrike on Southern Damascus: Surveillance Devices, Casualties, and Helicopter Raid
A Syrian government source told state news agency SANA that during a routine army patrol near Jabal Al-Manaa, south of Damascus, on August 26, military personnel discovered Israeli surveillance and eavesdropping devices planted in the area.
As Syrian forces attempted to neutralize the devices, the location was targeted by an Israeli airstrike, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries, in addition to the destruction of several military vehicles.
Ongoing Strikes and Restricted Access
The source added that Israeli aerial attacks and drone strikes continued to prevent access to the site until the evening of August 27. Syrian units reportedly managed to destroy parts of the Israeli systems using appropriate weaponry and recovered the bodies of those killed in the attack.
Israeli Commando Raid Confirmed by Military Radio
According to Israeli Army Radio, Israeli forces carried out a helicopter-borne commando raid targeting a military site belonging to the Syrian Ministry of Defense in the Al-Kiswah region, southwest of Damascus.
The raid involved four helicopters and more than 30 commandos, supported by flare bombs dropped by Israeli fighter jets for cover. The operation reportedly led to the destruction of logistical military equipment, with some materials transported out by the Israeli forces. Full details of the raid have yet to be confirmed.
