Syrian Actor Announces Retirement: “The Divide Between Syrians Has Become Too Deep
Syrian actor Bashar Ismail announced in a post on his personal Facebook page that he is retiring from social media.
In his post, Ismail stated that until the last moment, he believed that kind words could have an impact on people’s hearts, fostering unity and harmony. However, he explained that the comments he received on his page were beyond the bounds of logic, decency, and ethics, as he put it.
Ismail emphasized that neither words nor actions can create even a glimmer of hope for restoring love and brotherhood among Syrians. He stressed that the gap between them has grown so wide that Syria itself is beginning to fade away.
At the end of his post, the Syrian actor expressed his love for all segments of the Syrian people, including both his supporters and critics. He then announced his departure from social media, writing:
“Dear ones, I love you all, regardless of your sects and beliefs—whether you love me, insult me, or hold unwarranted grudges against me. From today onwards, I will no longer be present on social media. Farewell, dear friends.”
It is worth mentioning that Bashar Ismail frequently sparks controversy with his statements on social media. He regularly criticizes the situation in Syria, particularly the worsening living conditions. In his latest appearance, he spoke about the recent violence in the Syrian coastal region, which led to a wave of backlash from social media users.
