The European Union announced that the tariffs on American products, which were approved last month in response to similar duties imposed by former President Donald Trump’s administration, will be postponed until mid-April to allow for further dialogue.
The EU tariffs target U.S. imports of steel and aluminum, which were initially set to take effect at the beginning of April. EU trade spokesperson Olof Gill stated in a press release: “The countermeasures announced by the EU on March 12 will take effect in mid-April… This allows additional time for discussions with the U.S. administration.”
